Luscious Lips: Who Has Them and How To Get Them

Everyone wants luscious lips…right?? Celebrities have the advantage when it comes to what’s new and hot on the market….but what I bet you didn’t know is that all you need is a few tips on color and shade and you can have the one up, too! I have a few tips to make your lips look amazing all summer long and then some. Here are a few of our favorite celebrity looks along with some of summer’s hottest colors to inspire you.
To get a similar look to
Halle Berry’s trademark pout, stick with lighter colors with a bit of shimmer. Although Halle already has a plump pucker, she knows what colors to use to play that up. You rarely see her in darker lip shades for one simple reason…light colors reflect and give the appearance of fullness. Trust me, she knows what she is doing and that is exactly why the same trick will work for you. Now I am not saying you will have the plumpest lips on the block BUT the color choices can make a huge difference. Try the latest lip plumping gloss by Christian Dior dubbed Dior Kiss.
The glosses contain “multi-reflect shine properties” and are named after yummy cocktails! They smell and taste yummy too!! Try lighter shades like Berry Smoothie, Hawaii Coco or Pineapple Cocktail but really any of them would work very well as they are all pretty sheer.
Another celeb on my radar for great use of color is
Gabrielle Union. She has more of an average lip shape but she uses the same technique mentioned above. Gabrielle tends to stick to honeys, golds and bronzes year round which gives her that shimmery glow she is so well known for.
To get her look I suggest trying some of the new shades by Bobbi Brown from her Shimmer Glosses collection. These glosses can be worn alone or layered for a more multi-tonal effect. The newest shades are Black Pearl and Iced Mauve but some of the classic shades like Cocoa Bling and Cocoa Sugar will also work very nicely.
Jada Pinkett-Smith knows all about style, she is a little bit on the avant-garde side when it comes to her use of color. However, if you notice, when she does experiment she uses like tones and that is why she always pulls it off.
Jada tends to favor natural subtle looks because she is always wearing so much color. Her skin is always flawless and creamy looking and her lip color is generally soft and subtle.
To get this look, try NARS Mindgame lipstick from the 2008 Exotica collection. This is a sheer and subtle shade that can be worn alone or layered with gloss on top. My favorite to layer would be NARS Supervixen also from the Exotica collection. It is a shimmery nude color that will give you just the right amount of sheen.
Whatever color you choose, make sure you pay attention to your undertones and keep it subtle, you will have luscious lips before you know it!
